jaw registration, try in

yesterday i had prosthodontics clinic, and i'm the assistant.

My partner did jaw registration..these are few things that are important to be done during jaw registration :

1) check naso labial fold, should be about 90 degree. If not, should trim the wax.
2) labial fullnes, same as above
-check the plane wit fox plane...correspond with ala tragus line, and interpapillary line.
3) height of the record block should be 0-2mm from the lip.
4) check the smile line, its the line where teeth end? maybe..
5) vertical dimension. Vertical dimension on occlusion (VDO) minus vertical dimension on rest (VDR) should be about 0-4mm. The patient shouldn't be stress during this procedure the get the correct measurement.
6) mark incisal line(correspond with lip for esthetic?) and canine line which is a line from corner of eye, thru ala of nose.(middle of canine) If its distal...when patient smile, corner of mouth.
7) prepare the upper recor block: removing wax .
8) check if there's anterior open bite or posterior.
9) ask patient to bite on molar, relax and put tongue on roof of mouth. Register his jaw. Patient shouldnt open mouth. Melt the wax between upper and lower. open the lower denture first then remove upper n lower together from the mouth.
10) put sticky wax between them. make sure corner of the cast at TMJ site dont touch each other, coz if they touch each other, acrylic will not be correctly positioned in cast and everything will be wrong.

Try in

1) check everything, sound, esthetics, if theres pain when wearing it....retention isnt important coz there's no post dam.
2) mark post dam area ( the nonmovable part of soft palate-theleast movable coz soft tissue always move)
few techniques to take post dam area :

- nonmovable part os soft palate
- valva maneuver - blow over closed nose, soft palate will go down while har palate not, so mark the junction between them
- wax that will harden in mouth, but still can apply pressure on soft palate.
- apply burnisher at soft palate, run it until you feel a drop, mark there.

put denture in, post dam area will be marked at the acrylis, trim away the excess, then mark on cast to carve away the shape of pos dam area.
